Father John Fischer
I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, I am the oldest of four children.  My parents are both deceased, Alfred and Jean.  I have one sister, Cathy and two brothers, Mike and Chuck.  Cathy married Monty and lived in Pierre.  Cathy died of cancer about 17 years ago.  My brother Mike and his wife Jill live in Brewton, AL and my youngest brother Chuck lives in Murfreesboro, TN.  I have two nephews and three nieces and four great-nephews and one great-niece.                                                                                                                                                                   As a family we went to church at Christ the King in Sioux Falls.  I attended Christ the King School and Laura Wilder Elementary, Edison Middle School and graduated from Washington High.                                             After high school I worked for a couple years before I went to school at USD/S (the University of South Dakota at Springfield) which is now closed.  I graduated with an associate degree in accounting.  During this time, God kept asking me to think about priesthood.  After graduating from Springfield, I went to Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary and St. Mary's College in Winona, MN.  After finishing at IHM, I went on for the final years of preparation for priesthood at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD and was ordained in May of 1986.                                                                                                                                                                            I have served in the following parishes:  Sacred Heart Parish, Yankton, Holy Family, Mitchell, St. Mary's Parish, Clear Lake, St. Bernard's Parish, Redfield.  I went back to Sacred Heart, Yankton as Pastor, St. Lambert's, Sioux Falls and for the last 13 years St. Agnes Parish Vermillion.
