Our Staff

I was born in Watertown, the oldest of five children. I attended Codington County country school Esterly #19 and then went to O'Gorman High School in Sioux Falls. After graduating with an MA from St. Paul Seminary, I  was ordained in 1976. Six years later Bishop Dudley sent me to Rome to get my advanced degree in Scripture (STL). I helped  start the permanent diaconate in the diocese and taught Scripture for all deacon candidates. I also, in various assignments, taught at USD, SDSU, Mt. Marty, O'Gorman, Mt. St. Mary's Seminary in Maryland and finally at our American seminary in Rome. During my teaching periods, I wrote two books: Ministry to Youth and Death and Destiny in the Bible, plus many published articles. While in Maryland, I was occasional chaplain to Camp David. I was always anxious to return to parish work and have served in the following parishes: St. Lambert in Sioux Falls, St. Joseph in Huntimer, USD Newman Center and Wakonda, St. Michael in Sioux Falls, St. Thomas More in Brookings, Immaculate Conception here in Watertown and now am pastor at Holy Name of Jesus.
